Today a remembrance function to commemorate the killing of 184 Tamils by
Muslim CDS members on 09.09.1990 had been planned by villagers at the monument
in Sathurukondan. Few TNA politicians and villagers were gathering close to
monument and Batticaloa police intervene and stop the Remembrance function with
a court order. Finally the remembrance function was held at Kokuvil, Weeraamma
Kaliamma Kovil and lighted lamps by the politicians. Participation was less due
to intervene of police.
