17 Tamils have been assassinated
in Puthukudirippu, Kaththankudy on 21st Sep 1990 and to remember
this assassination a monument has been constructed in Beach Rd, Puthukudirippu.
On 21st Sep 2014 a blood donation programme was held at Puthukudirippu
Maha Vithiyalayam and later after TNA MPs Hon. P Ariyanenthiran, Hon. P
Selvarasa and TNA EPC members Hon. I Nithyanathan, Hon. G Karunaharan lighted
oil lamps opposite the monument to commemorate this assassination. However Kaththankudy
police OIC attempted to discontinue the lighting the oil lamps opposite the
monument with a court order but it was unsuccessful.
