A man and woman jumped into the kallady lagoon...

A couple who were engaged in informal affair attempted to commit suicide on 1st Oct 2014. Two of them had jumped in to the lagoon from Kallady Bridge and the man was dead and woman was rescued by fishermen. Further sources revealed that husband of the woman is working abroad.

A discussion was held to procure lands for landless people in Kinniady...

On 30 Sep 2014 Valachchenai Divisional Secretary Mr. T Dinesh held a discussion in Kinniady GS office to procure lands for landless people in Kinniady. During the discussion DS has stated that 69 of landless families in Kinniady would procure land in Meeraodai old camp area.   

Parents conducted a protest against a teacher in Manamagal School, Mailankarachchi.

On 30 Sep 2014 around 50 of parents in Manamagal School, Mailankarachchi conducted a protest requesting to transfer a teacher against punished to a student. On 26 Sep 2014 the teacher has assaulted to a student and het attacked student was admitted to Valachchenai hospital. Due to this reason parents of students conducted a protest against the teacher related to incident.

There was a clash among 3 detainees in Batticaloa prison on 29th Sep 2014. Prison officials have found a mobile phone from a detainee and after that the clash has been occurred. The 3 detainee admitted to Batticaloa hospital with minor injuries.

Unauthorized few houses in Akkaraipattu at Pallikuddirippu were demolished ...

Unauthorized 3 completed houses and 16 partly constructed houses in Akkaraipattu at Pallikuddirippu were demolished by Alayadiwembu Pradeshiya Sabha on 29th Sep 2014. The houses were demolished by Alayadiwembu Pradeshiya Sabha on Court order.



Protest in Anoor Maha Vithiyalam, Valachchenai ...

A protest campaign was conducted by students of Anoor Maha Vithiyalam, Valachchenai opposite the school on 29th Sep 2014. Reason for the protest was, the principal of Anoor Maha Vithiyalam has given authority for Aisha Girls School to use the newly constructed Science lab in Anoor Maha Vithiyalam. Valachchenai police ASP normalized the situation after discussion with principal and students.

The District Development Committee meeting was held at Batticaloa District Secretariat office on 29th Sep 2014. MPs P Selvarasa, P Ariyanenthiran, S Yogeshwaran and Deputy Minister MLAM Hisbullah, Deputy Minister V Muralitharan, District Secretary PSM Charles and local government members and society leaders in Batticaloa District participated for the meeting. During the meeting an unrest situation was created between TNA MPs and Mayor of Kaththankudy UC SHM Asfur.

A woman of Valachchenai committed suicide on 1st July 2014 in Saudi Arabia...

A woman of Valachchenai has gone to Saudi Arabia as a house maid on 28th April 2013 and she has committed suicide on 1st July 2014 in Saudi Arabia. The dead body was brought to Valachchenai on 26th Sep 2014. Reason for the suicide is not revealed.  

A clash between buses drivers in Kalmunai bus stand on 26th Sep 2014 ...

There was a clash between buses drivers in Kalmunai bus stand on 26th Sep 2014. The clash started between two drivers, Kalmunai to Trincomalee bus driver and Kalmunai to Batticaloa driver. After the clash Kalmunai to Trincomalee bus driver made a complaint at Kalmunai police and Kalmunai police arrested Kalmunai to Batticaloa bus driver and conductor. Against that incident all bus drivers/conductors of Kalmunai to Batticaloa blocked the road for Kalmunai to Trincomalee bus. Kalmunai to Trincomalee bus driver informed to Kalmunai police on that situation and Kalmunai police arrested all persons who involved with the incident and they were released same day evening.     

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa has been awarded a 4-year jail term ...

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa has been awarded a 4-year jail term by a Special Court which convicted her in a Rs.66 crore disproportionate asset case this afternoon. After an 18-year court battle, judge John Michael Cunha convicted 66-year old Jayalalithaa, who is general secretary of the AIADMK. He held Jayalalithaa and three others - Sasikala and her relatives V.N.Sudhakaran and J.Illavarasi guilty. Sasikala is the close aide of Jayalalithaa. Jayalalithaa was charged with acquiring assets worth around Rs.66 crore which is disproportionate to her known sources of income.

A dead body of 81 years old woman in Panama was founded from Kottukalli beach on 23rd Sep 2014. She is a mentally disordered lady and she departed from the house stating that she is going to one of her sons’s house.

A 10 years old girl in Valachchenai has been abused by a three wheeler driver on 23 Sep 2014. Accuse has take the girl by a three wheeler whe she was going for the tution class. After abused the girl has been droped opposite the Zonal Educational Office – Valachchenai. Valachchenai police conducts further investigations.

A person in Kaththankudy complained in Kaththankudy police that his son was missing. His son IR Mohomathu Riyas (17 years) had gone to Mosque on 20th Sep 2014 and he had not returned to home.

Remembrance ceremony to commemorate 17 Tamils assassination in Puthukudirippu in 1990 ...

 
       17 Tamils have been assassinated in Puthukudirippu, Kaththankudy on 21st Sep 1990 and to remember this assassination a monument has been constructed in Beach Rd, Puthukudirippu. On 21st Sep 2014 a blood donation programme was held at Puthukudirippu Maha Vithiyalayam and later after TNA MPs Hon. P Ariyanenthiran, Hon. P Selvarasa and TNA EPC members Hon. I Nithyanathan, Hon. G Karunaharan lighted oil lamps opposite the monument to commemorate this assassination. However Kaththankudy police OIC attempted to discontinue the lighting the oil lamps opposite the monument with a court order but it was unsuccessful.  
      




An Islam video programme was displayed for Muslim public in Kattankudy, Attalachchenai and Oddamavady ...

An Islam video programme was displayed for Muslim public in Kattankudy, Attalachchenai and Oddamavady areas by Sri Lanka Thauhith Jamath. The video programme was telecasted in Chennai, India and it was conducted by an Indian Maulavi.

The programme conducted in Oddamavady had been cancelled by the OIC Valachchenai police hence they had not taken permission from the local authorities to conduct such a programme. Kaththankudy programme had to shift in side to the Mosque since it was conducting near to Hisbullah Stadium disturbing for movements on the road.

A large scale of illegal teak timber stock was found by security forces in Thoppigala jungle on 22nd Sep 2014 and no one was arrested. Worth of timber stock is not estimated.

Seven Indian nationals were arrested by Kalmunai police...

Seven Indian nationals were arrested by Kalmunai police. The Indian nationals had come on tourist visa and they were engaging in textiles business. Due to that charge they were arrested.

There was a prayer in Saibaba church, Puthur Rd, Batticaloa. It was conducted by seven Christian clergies came from India and around 250 persons participated.
